Field Trips & Special Guests
Field trips in preschool are essential for hands on learning, experiences that stimulate curiosity, promote social interaction and deepen an understanding of the world beyond the classroom. For these reasons we take a field trip in the fall and spring. Over the years we have been to Randall’s Orchard, Pumpkin Valley Farm, Smiling Hill Farm, Maine Wildlife Park, Shaw Cherry Hill Farm, Narrow Gauge Railroad and The Point. You never know where we may go next!
Inviting community members into our preschool also provides a supportive and inclusive environment that helps children grow their social-emotional skills and feel a sense of belonging.
We have been fortunate to have visits from the Gorham Fire Department to teach us about fire safety, Westbrook & Gorham Police K-9, local Veterans to share about their service, an airline pilot and dental hygienist to provide information about dental health. Each month a librarian from Baxter Memorial Library comes in to share stories and provide movement activities.
